2017 Spring Summit, Global General Counsels and Business Leaders Forum was successfully held in Shanghai

On April 22, 2017, the Spring Summit, Global General Counsels and Business Leaders Forum was successfully held in Grand Hyatt Shanghai. 26 authoritative speakers and around 130 legal and business elites from 7 China provinces participated in the Summit.

At 8:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, the guests arrived at the venue successively. The event was started on time at 9:00 a.m., without any empty seats in the venue. This summit lasted for nearly 12 hours from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Because of the rich content, tight schedule and useful sharing, there was even no tea break, but the guests were enthusiastic and highly praised the summit.

In the words of the general counsels, “Guests from different industries were gathered this unprecedented event to have inter-disciplinary exchanges, which is indeed a grand event in legal profession! This summit was divided into four sessions. Ms Angel Yingjun Wang, the Chairperson of the China International Legal Affairs & Culture Exchange Center and the founder of Legal Guru Club, was the host.  Mr. Yu Weifeng, the president of the Shang Hai Bar Association, delivered an opening speech.

Mr. Yu Weifeng expressed his views on the situation of the Shanghai legal profession and the problems faced by the whole legal profession. He believed that the law firms must improve efficiency, embrace new technologies and new thinking from the below aspects. On one hand, looking into the new markets and new opportunities externally, and on the other hand, improving efficiency and reducing cost internally.

Keynote Speech

David Chen, the global vice president of Microsoft and the general manager of the Public and Legal Affairs Department of Greater China Region, addressed a wonderful keynote speech and shared his own professional experience, which was widely recognized by the present guests.

Dr. Chen introduced the impact of the new technology of cloud computing on each enterprise, and discussed with the guests about how to drive the reliability and compliance of cloud computing in every walk of life. He believed that cloud computing was permeating all aspects of life and work, and it had become the foundation platform for many IT service businesses.

Panel

This summit had more than 20 speakers from different industries and fields, with topics covering five fields, namely, network information security, corporate risk control, legal arbitration, compliance risk and anti-monopoly. Speakers conducted profound analysis from different perspectives on the same topic and carried out in-depth discussion.

Summit Dialogue

Gao Wei, the general manager of Sinotrans Air Transportation Development Co., Ltd., Sun Qiang, the general counsel of Greater China Region of Cisco, Zou Zhiqiang, the senior partner of Dentons, and Zhang Jingzhong, the vice president of the All China Lawyers Association, carried out a summit dialogue and expressed their own ideas on the “Career Development of Corporate Legal Advisers and How to Create a Win-Win Situation with External Lawyers”.

Reception

The reception of this summit was held in the bar on the 87th floor of the Grand Hyatt Shanghai. With the circular design, the lounge enabled the guests to overlook the panoramic night view of Shanghai from any angle. Nearly 100 legal counsels and business elites gathered in the lounge to taste delicious food, watch the night view and freely talk with each other, which brought a different experience to each guest present at the event and also drew a perfect ending for this summit.
